Abdullah Abid
Abdullah is a fourth-year MEng Engineering Science student at the University of Oxford, undertaking his Fourth Year Project (4YP) within the Mobile Robotics Group, supervised by Daniele De Martini and Abderrahmen Trichili.
His project investigates the use of solar panels as dual-purpose receivers for simultaneous optical wireless communication and energy harvesting. The system uses an FPGA at the receiver to implement real-time demodulation of optical data signals. The project explores the potential for this technology in robotic systems, where power availability and reliable communication can be limiting factors.
He specialises in electronics and software engineering, with particular interests in communication theory, computer architecture and integrated circuit (IC) design.
